Motorcycling WA Affiliation Requirements …

Motorcycling WA is the recognised state controlling body for all forms of motorcycle sport. It is affiliated with and represents in WA the national controlling body, Motorcycling Australia. Which in turn is affiliated with the international controlling body the, Federation International Motorcyclists.

MWA provides support at a community level through education in schools, at a club level with guidelines for holding events, track requirements, rider safety and training of club officials and at an individual level with affordable rider accident insurance.

Club Requirements;
  • Annual track inspection
  • Permits must be issued by MWA prior to each event

Motocross Rider Requirements;
  • All riders must hold a MWA Licence (rider accident insurance)
  • All riders must sign on prior to event
  • All riders must wear protective helmet & footwear
  • All junior competitive riders (7-16 years) must pass theory and practical test prior to racing. In addition to attending annual coaching clinics. (called kick start)

Event Requirements;
  1. Practice
  • Rider practice is not a structured day and the motocross rider must meet the following Motorcycling WA restrictions to use the Rockwell Flats Track.
                  a) 1 rider supervisor for every 5 riders
                  b) Rider supervisor must have St John 'Apply first Aid'
                  c) Rider supervisor must have completed Motorcycling WA Level 1 rider supervisor course
                  d) Rider supervisor must sign on MWA volunteer sign on sheet prior to motocross rider riding
                  e) Motocross rider must sign on MWA rider sign on sheet prior to riding
                  f) Motocross rider must be a member of Cranbrook Motocross (CDMC Requirement only)
                  g) Motocross rider must have current MWA licence (rider accident insurance)
                  h) A MWA monthly permit is required and duplicate of all paperwork must be sent to MWA

2.Club Day (Non Competitive - Go Moto) & (Competitive - Race Day) / Come & Try Day / Inter Club Day
  • These are semi structured to structured days run by club MWA qualified officials
  • At each non competitive event there must be a senior first aid person present
  • At each competitive event there must be an ambulance present
  • Club officials (Steward, Clerk of Course, Race Secretary, Bike Scrutineers) must have completed MWA training  
  • At each competitive event bikes must be scrutinised prior to racing, this includes noise testing
  • At each competitive event meet a noise reading must be taken by MWA calibrated equipment
  • A MWA permit is required and duplicate of all paperwork must be sent to MWA

3.Training Day - Kick Start 
  • This is a structured day 
  • Instructor must be a Motorcycling Australia approved coach
